🇬🇧Rufforth, York, United Kingdom
During climb-out under power, pilot let go of right control handle instead of stowing it on keeper. Handle was drawn into propeller causing damage to propeller, control handle and control lines. Pilot landed safely without injury.
🇺🇸San Antonio, Texas, United States
Novice pilot with 15 flights stalled wing at ~50 feet AGL after incorrect brake input during radio-guided turn, causing spin and riser twist, fell onto railroad tracks resulting in compound leg fracture
🇺🇸McPherson County, Kansas, United States
24-year-old male pilot crashed into a field for unknown reasons while flying a small advanced glider mid-day, sustaining serious injuries including broken vertebrae, broken knee, and torn ACL.
🇬🇧Wingland Airfield, Spalding, United Kingdom
🇺🇸Salton Sea, California, United States
Experienced acro pilot died while performing low-altitude aerobatic maneuver (joker) at Salton Sea. Pilot unloaded glider too much during trick, experienced collapse, caught lines in propeller, spiraled to ground. Despite expert acro skills, altitude was too low for recovery.
Pilot experienced engine failure during flight, attempted 3 restarts before giving up and making emergency landing. Also had partial left wing collapse on takeoff, hit foot on parking area bar, and skimmed trees before gaining altitude. Landing damaged propeller guard and destroyed propellers.
During a recreational beach flight, pilot Daniel Williamson struck the leading edge of another pilot's (Azmat's) Apco glider while flying too close for fun. The collision damaged 4 sections of the leading edge of Daniel's own Apco Charisma 30m wing. No injuries occurred and paramotors were undamaged.
🇨🇾Kiti, Larnaca district, Cyprus
31-year-old pilot Antonis Kourras died instantly after his paramotor struck rocks on Parasolia beach in Kiti. Witness reported seeing him lose altitude and suggested part of the parachute may not have opened correctly.
🇺🇸Thompson, Connecticut, United States
Pilot was target fixated on a turn at low altitude and struck a power line head-on. The line caught between pilot and wing, swinging pilot horizontally before falling. Pilot landed with damaged ribs but walked away.
🇺🇸Smoketown, Pennsylvania, United States
Pilot had an extremely close call with a Cessna aircraft while flying at 300 AGL, 1.5 miles from a non-towered airport. The Cessna pilot was flying directly into the sun and didn't see the paramotor. The PPG pilot spotted the aircraft to his far left and performed rapid evasive maneuvers, executing what turned into a giant wingover due to the rapid brake input. The aircraft passed overhead with minimal separation.
🇺🇸Willard, Utah, United States
Pilot with 10-50 hours experience climbed 5,000 feet toward Willard Peak in strong winds and encountered severe lee side rotor turbulence. Wing became unflyable and pilot fell 50-100 feet to the ground. Fatal impact.
Pilot discovered one riser carabiner was open/unlatched 15 minutes into flight at approximately 500 feet AGL. Carabiner gate was held open by pressure from webbing at the base - not enough space for both safety strap and swing arm attachment points. Pilot landed safely. Over 10 years experience in paragliding/paramotoring.
🇺🇸Northern Utah, Utah, United States
Pilot crashed while performing low acrobatics, sustaining multiple fractures and brain injury. Airlifted to trauma center.
🇺🇸Brainerd, Minnesota, United States
81-year-old pilot experienced engine malfunction during landing approach when something fell off the engine and broke the propeller blade. Aircraft crashed into trees and became suspended. Pilot attempted to unbuckle himself and fell approximately 50 feet to his death.
🇺🇸Jackson, Michigan, United States
Instructor pilot crashed his paramotor after trying to drop a toy parachute soldier at low altitude (~30ft). He found his paramotor veering left, likely overcorrected to the right, and impacted the ground hard on his right side. Unknown if brakes became tangled in risers or if there was equipment malfunction.
